Off-season grades

What makes it worse is that "experts" grade the draft the day after.

 

A+. Chris Johnson. We will look back on this pick as second greatest pick in franchise history. First will be Vince Young. Second will be Chris Johnson. Third will be Earl Campbell. That alone will give us the greatest offseason in franchise history.

I love that we brought back Dinger. However, we had our chance to dump our dumbarse defensive genius coordinator:clown: and get Gregg Williams back...instead, we let one of our division rivals have him. That move is going to bite us in the arse I'm afraid.

 

Doesn't make it wrong either.


Seriously though, re-signing players shouldn't be considered a great offseason. I dunno, re-signing players is just business. And since in most cases it can be done during the regular season... does that mean since the re-signing happened during the season it therefore wouldn't count towards the offseason grade in effect lowering the offseason grade when the same task was accomplished earlier?


It's also about addressing needs, something we didn't do for some positions.

If we are giving out fair grades (like the bottom 5 or so teams in the NFL would get Fs).. then I give us a D.

If it's cookie cutter where no one can get below a C, than cool, we're average.

 

There was no WR we could add to fix our problem. Besides, we have to give our guys a chance to prove they can do it. A big DT would be nice, but those aren't everywhere either.

 

FA is over rated, building through the draft is the best way.

Our offseason is a B. We locked up Stewart, and got Scott to solidify the right side of our line. Dinger was another good move, and hopefully we get a lot out of Chris Johnson maybe he won't start right away and just get spot carries but Im really looking foward to his contribution on special teams.
