News on Collier is awful

    Posted by ESPN.com's Paul Kuharsky Terrible news about Richard Collier today, as his doctors revealed what he's endured since he suffered 14 gunshot wounds on Sept. 2 while he was parked at a Jacksonville apartment complex.
    Collier is paralyzed below the waist and had his left leg amputated. He is now in stable condition after a long period during which he was listed as critical.
    It's amazing that his teammates and close friends have functioned as well at work as they have considering what he's gone through.

    This is very sad news. But hopefully his condition will continue to improve and he will eventually be able to go home and try and start a new life.

    Awful is too strong a word who survived 14 gunshot wounds. A miracle is more like it. I'm glad he made it, when you get shot 14 times that;s the most important thing.

    the crazy thing about this is that everybody close to the situation made it sound like it wasn't that big a deal when it happend. Coaches and teamates said they were concerend but didn't really harp on it, and the media really didn't report on it that seriously. This is just a horrible situation for this man and his family!!

    caught me way off-guard when i read that story today...hate to hear that...I mean..14 times???i hope they catch whoever is responsible

    ...after the fact..."lucky to have survived" is a huge under-statement

    after 14 bullets he is very lucky to be able to go back home. god was with him on this one.

    I hope him and his family can recover and stay happy after all this.
