The Elephant Man was my first full length David Lynch movie. Sad, disturbing and beautifully strange. All the things you'd expect from Lynch - in Black and White.

Who here hasn't seen all of the Jaws movies? I know I've missed some, maybe most of them.

When I was a kid they ran The Deer Hunter on network TV for the first time. It had a profound effect on schoolmates that I witnessed the next day. So many of them having parents who were either Vietnam vets or directly affected by that war. The whole POW Russian Roulette bit hit home hard with alot of those folks and it put them back in that place.
It sure was different time. Tropic Thunder could not have existed then.

It was okay. Mildly funny. Kind of an interesting take-off of the ridiculousness of metal back then, but that didn't keep me interested in the blabbering between the guys for most of the movie. Everybody knows about the "turn it up to 11" "Smell the glove" and the tiny Stonehenge, and those were the best parts.

Animal House I didn't find that funny, but it is older than I am.
