It's a trade-off. He's proven his worth in the red-zone and short yardage situations.

No, he's not perfect by any means, but he's definitely an asset to the defense. To say otherwise is ridiculous.

Butler's one weakness in NE was he often got burned on the long ball. Especially on corner and fly routes (for some reason with post routes he seems to be a little bit better at moving inside).

He is really good playing against the slot receivers. Just remember his SB interception against the Seahawks. I know it has been analyzed to death, but that was a ridiculous play. He does his homework, he knows the playbook, and as long as he isn't in a footrace toward the corner, he does a decent job sticking pretty close to his man.
