This is based on the assumption Mariota returns as the Titans starting QB in '19. I wanted to look at possible QB2 options for next year. Gabbert is under contract for '19. Releasing him leaves $500K dead cap but saves $1.5M. Here are some possible options for QB2: Bridgewater - will be looking for a QB1 opportunity. Will likely cost some serious moolah (got a $6M deal with the Jets before going to the Saints). If the Saints like him, I bet he never gets out of Nola. Foles - he might be a good option to be a QB1 for a couple of seasons while grooming a draft pick. If he takes the Eagles deep into the playoffs again, he might see a Keenum-type deal for a team like the Jags. If the Eagles keep him, he'll get paid $20M in '19. That's not happening. Taylor - I think this would be a good fit for the Titans in that I think he plays a similar style to Mariota. He was paid $16M this season. He's 29 so a 2-3 year deal might be possible but it'll be for a lot more than what Gabbert is playing for. Fitzpatrick - I don't see it and don't want. Siemian - not much of an upgrade, IMO. Osweiler - not much of an upgrade, IMO. McCown - not much of an upgrade, IMO. Draft pick - I don't see the Titans using an early pick at QB but they could find someone sliding they like on day two or three. I also don't see the Titans going into the season with a 3-5th round unproven QB as the #2 but I take them over many listed above.
