The guy evaded 2 all pros and threw a safety to the ground against Jacksonville without taking a hit. You're telling me that he couldn't have evaded some JAG in the preseason?

Y'all out here acting like Mariota's scrambling has been what's been getting him hurt....... Look at Mariota's injuries:

Dec 22, 2018 NFL Cervical Neck Stinger Mariota missed the season finale.

Nov 18, 2018 NFL Cervical Neck Stinger - missed 1 half. Easy to shut him down for a half when you're already getting blown out of the water.

Sep 9, 2018 NFL Arm Elbow Sprain--- Once again, another illegal hit by a Dolphin..

Oct 1, 2017 NFL Thigh Hamstring Sprain/Pull Unspecified Grade - Can be attributed to the burn it took to get around Clowney, and the awkward land on his side - still only missed 1 game.

Dec 24, 2016 NFL Leg Fibula Fracture In Week 16,--- as a Result of NOT SCRAMBLING in time/ Freak fall by a DL

Dec 20, 2015 NFL Knee MCL Sprain Grade 2 Mariota sprained his right MCL - was shutdown for the season. (2-14 year)

Oct 18, 2015 NFL Knee MCL Sprain Grade 2 ---- As a Result of an illegal hit by Olivier Vernon

So in total, that's 7 injuries of NFL count.... 4 of them being as a result of something out of his control. 2 for being shutdown to prevent career changing injury, and 1 from a scramble.....

It's never been about TAKING HITS ON SCRAMBLING.... so just stop.

As stated before, damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t.

Full game time speed makes for judgements like taking a hit or not almost impossible.
He wants to win, he’s going to take SOME hits. He can’t live in a bubble either.
The best way for him to avoid hits, is just improve on getting rid of the ball faster. Every QB gets hit, he may take a few more because he can scramble. That’s the risk worth his scrambling ability as the reward.

Based on your take, he never should have had the game sealing block, the stiff arm, or some of the other plays that actually give fans that glimmer of hope he may be a “franchise QB” (I hate that term).

It's concerning that he's proceeding things so slowly in year 5. The game should have slowed down enough for him that he can make a sound judgement call in a preseason game. Patrick Mahomes had no issue sliding.

Absolutely ridiculous people are still hung up on a play that happened in a preseason gm. He dove and got flipped, scored, and didn’t get hurt. Who the hell cares. Vrabel already came out and said he didn’t have a problem with it so why all the shade? Let me guess because he shouldn’t be taking those hits? Apparently he’s not changing his style. People getting so triggered by his play that they have to keep repeating the same thing over and over. Sad as hell.

Listen to Vrabel's post season press conference. He was absolutely frustrated with his inability to stay healthy. Robinson publicly stated his desire for him not to take big hits, as that was going to be a big deciding factor as to whether or not he was going to be the franchise QB. Do you honestly think they are okay with this? It's much more likely that they have moved on mentally and are perfectly comfortable with Tannehill playing. There is no way KC is okay with Mahomes doing this in the preseason. They have even forbidden him to play basketball. Mariota's value has declined significantly to them.

Why would I go back and listen to a post season press conference when I can just listen to the post game presser of the game regarding the play you are obsessed with? Vrabel said he was fine with it so that’s it. I know that kills you but you are trying like hell to make this bigger than what it is.

Because guys are having to fall to the ground and make one handed catches on routine passes. That does not translate into an efficient passing game. Compare that to Tannehill's throws, which hit the receivers in stride. That's why he'll be our starting QB in time.

NFL Team's Starting QB Job Is Surprisingly "Wide Open"

Mariota has reportedly done little to assert himself in camp this summer and is quickly losing ground to former Dolphins starter Ryan Tannehill… Volin also cited a recent ESPN report that suggested Mariota is “no lock” to start while noting that some of the team’s coaches prefer Tannehill. Even if Mariota is able to hold off Tannehill for the starting job, Volin said he figures to be on a “short leash…”
