This article explains his value in fantasy football, but it also describes how Mariota is being limited in this style of offense. That's why I don't have complete faith in this coaching staff because they are holding back our most dangerous weapon. The wins and improved running game are nice but the objective right now should be developing Mariota into an elite QB.

Fantasy football - What is Marcus Mariota's true fantasy value?

I've flip flopped on this, but I think I've landed on thinking that he's shown he can at least be successful in this offense and what's more important than anything is him continuing to get reps. Only way you get reps is by staying healthy and this offense maximizes that possibility.

I see it as a situation where its not completely bad. No mularkey is not good for Mariota when it comes to him reaching his potential because 1980 power run schemes, and i believe that he is holding Mariota back from reaching his potential immensely; but Mularkey & Jon Robinson have built Mariota a franchise-type line for the future which is something all young QBs need.

Because of this offense Mariota has been forced to improve his ability to throw more accurate passes in tight windows and hes been under a microscope with the deep ball. Whenever we get a new coach (JRob will probably hand pick one) that spreads the field, I guarentee Mariota will be able to make throws and ready defenses much more easier.

Using Fantasy scoring as the basis for arguing the offense being ill-designed is rather hilarious.

    Carry on.

MM not being used to his full potential, that's an obvious one but is our receiving options good enough to unlock that potential. Personally I think bigger plays will keep coming as the season goes on and MM becomes more comfortable with the WRs and become better after the next draft, we have steady WRs but not outstanding WRs.

Mariotas max abilities would be utilized best in the Oregon offense ... but this is the NFL, not college. We are developing MM into an NFL QB. you don't do that by just letting him do what he's already good at. You throw the stuff at him that he struggles with, so he will learn and become a better QB. Not stagnant and never progress.

Sure you mix in things he is good at, but still have to work the things he's not.

Then you will have an actual NFL QB in a few years that can play for a decade or more at a high-level, not a flash in the pan Ala RG3 and Kaepernick
