Amazing how calm he was through it all. The guys got "it."

You would never know he broke it or tore ligaments if that's the case. He looked pretty calm.

The passive aggressive enjoyment Of this injury that some on this board hint at is disgusting.

Best news we could of received. If it's just his fibula, a plate and screws and he will be back at rehab in 6 weeks or so. I was hoping he didn't have a trimalleolar fracture including his tibia. That could end a career.

Broken bone is much better than a knee, ankle or shoulder. Usually only a few months.

Derek Carr just suffered what appears to be a serious leg injury as well

I was at the game. He was not very calm after 5 minutes of the team looking at it. He punched the ground repeatedly in anger.

Ortho resident here, so I can try to provide some insight on his injury. It's hard without seeing any XR, but it looked like a pronation injury (as opposed to a supination injury which is way more common). In these situations you usually get a high fibula fracture above the joint line. That's probably why everyone is reporting it as a "fibula fracture", but for all intents and purposes it's an ankle fracture.

These injuries usually also mean the syndesmosis is torn, which is what gets sprained in "high ankle" sprains. He'll most likely need surgery to get both the fibula fixed and a transyndesmotic screw, be non-weightbearing for 6 weeks, and bone will be pretty much healed at 3 months. He'll be back for spring training, and he should recover pretty well from it.

What are the repercussions for skipping leg day?
