  1. Yes; Mariota will turn it around and earn the new contract that’s coming

  2. No; Mariota is done here and we need to move on.

    I like stats...
They help compensate for perception bias.
The stat I have been touting for years on this forum is ESPN's Total Quarterback Rating (QBR)

On this stat, in prior years, Mariota has always come out mediocre, not bad not good. I think the lowest he finished a season was 17th best in the NFL, and his best season he was 12th best.

This represents his inconsistent play, great one week, terrible another, with good and bad games equaling each other approximately.

    But this season....
    This season....

Mariota is currently ranked 28th in QBR.

While some of this can be attributed to terrible O-Line play, I find it disturbing.

Yesterday wasn’t on Mariota, even though he could have done better as well. Penalties and bs killed us...One thing that really annoyed me, why not throw it long to Davis and let him try to go get it again? We almost had that one, and often you can get PI on those. We have to take more shots....We played with bad field position and made bad calls often yesterday. I don’t get why when something works, we immediately get cute and abandon it.

Mariota not trending will in top 32 QB's. QB Index he is 23rd.
The offensive line not helping him though. How much of a difference would it make if we did have a OL line that blocked better? Would he then be 18th? Still not acceptable anything below 15 IMHO.

QB Index, Week 6: Russell Wilson catches Patrick Mahomes!

If the Titans win this game vs. Bronco's and Mariota has a good game then he still may have life. Otherwise, if they loose and he has a bad game, then I think the door is shutting on him. It is cliche, but he is on a teeter totter right now.

Blair: Mariota remains a puzzle in his prove-it season, but one thing is for sure: It's tough to win football games without converting first downs. Tennessee recorded eight three-and-outs in a one-score loss to the Bills in Week 5, including on a final possession in which the Titans traveled 5 total yards, petering out at their own 25. Mariota's final act of the day was sailing a third-down pass over Adam Humphries' head just past the chains with 4:26 left. Tennessee never got the ball again. In total, he completed three of his eight third-down attempts -- the same number of money-down completions that Jets placeholder QB Luke Falk managed against the Eagles. It didn't help that three of his five sacks came on third down, on plays where Buffalo's pass rush barely even gave him a chance. And, yes, he's still on track for a nightmarish, once-in-a-generation sack total (70.4).

I see it doesn’t mention the 3 drops passed the first down marker either.

Of course, 520jumps in to assume any (I mean any blame) thrown outside of MM is boring.

Blame not thrown on MM must be love for MM.
