We’ve got no other option. They have to put him in and give him every shot, the rest of this year.

If he gets hurt again or fails... yep, time to try a different QB next year.

With good defense and running game, we can win an ok amount of games if Gabbert simply manages the game and doesn’t make mistakes with the ball, like last week. They’ll have to let him go downfield a bit, eventually, though.

Mariota is only 1 season separated from being a good QB. Last year was his only bad year. My expectations are bottomed out, but he has earned the chance to get out there and blow the roof off.

If he doesn’t,,I am 100 percent on board to cut ties. It’s not rare to have a QB (especially a scrambler) to light it up for a year or two, then fall off the face of the earth. Seems like you don’t find out a QBs true identity til year 3 or 4. And it’s showtime.

Couldn’t agree more. People on this board are so ridiculous in their overreactions. Like mob mentality and know real thought. Maybe we will need to move on from mariota, but can we wait for the season to play out before we decide?

I understand the negativity, but yeah. We have no choice but to wait this season out with him.
Not like they have a superstar waiting in the wings, or one they can trade for.

This would be a timely topic in February 2019.

Come on now, if he can’t throw, why would you even want him on the field??

    That “warrior” mentality is retarded.

Yep. Did Rogers injure his leg or throwing arm? There's a HUGE difference when you're a QB.

Also... it's the Head Coach's call, period.

    Wise up, people.

Being frustrated by the situation is understandable, but be realistic.

It’s not like an injury that you can tough it out. It’s freaky nerve function. If you can’t feel the ball you don’t give your team the best chance to win.

A nerve is surrounded by and traverses soft tissue that blows up and compresses the nerve if the inflammation is not allowed to resolve. The more you work the area the more inflammation can be aggravated and compromise nerve function. I’m sure the inflammation is being aggressively addressed. But this is truly a medical situation where an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. This is a LONG season. We are under dogs EVEN if Mariota is 100%.

We did it last week without Mariota. Who knows? We’re leaning on Henry and Lewis anyway. I’m ok resting Mariota again. It’s frustrating but I know aggravating that inflammation before it’s completely resolved compromises the ENTIRE season.

He took the first team reps in practice end of the week. And by all accounts was throwing fine. We need him today. Hard to pay the big contract to a guy that is injured this much. As Belicheat says " Your availability is more important than your ability."
