I realize that most candidates to push Mariani have been shot down as unlikely. I know because I shot them down. Today however, the Titans signed a fairly unkown WR who I think may actually do it.

I also realize that free agents signed this late are usually camp fodder. Harris is actually very talented, however. He may pan out to be a better returner than Mariani, but he can also be a contributor on the offense. Furthermore, I haven't been following the KB stuff as close as some, but I believe there will be room on the roster for at least six weeks, even if the Titans decide to keep Mariani around.

Now that I've hyped him up, hopefully, he won't come out and suck in preseason. I haven't seen much of him, but what I have seen, I was impressed. Anyone else have thoughts on Harris?

Also, I know there was a thread like this before, but couldn't find it...

He'll get pushed by Wright or Damian Williams. Marcus Harris is nothing but camp legs.

He is the only receiver on the hot seat, so he needs to make some plays in camp as a receiver to put those out.

Say what you will about Mariani, but he's been a great returner for us. It's probably more in part to our blocking, but all I know is that it had been YEARS since we returned a punt or kick for a TD. Then all the sudden Mariani comes along and it's not so uncommon. We give $100,000 to a lucky fan if we return the opening kick. That just shows how unlikely it has been for us to actually do it. No one has ever won that money... and to be honest, they may have gotten rid of that prize because Mariani can actually do it. He has 3 return TDs in two seasons. That's pretty damn good.

You can say that he's a waste of roster space because he can only be a PR/KR, but until we get someone here than can, without a doubt, return kicks better, Mariani stays. He can suck as a WR all he wants as long as he continues to be a good kick returner.

He represented the AFC in the pro bowl his rookie season. C'mon. He's not going anywhere. You don't push the guy away... Not yet

Mark doesn't get in on much action, BUT, I actually get up on the edge of my seat when I see him with the ball. I think he does well. I know he's no britt (when/if playing) but I think he's solid. I say he makes the team. And there is always room for someone who protects the ball.

2 reasons to like Mariani, 1.) ball security, and 2.) see's lanes.

He does have good hands, but can't separate from DB's.

I'd say white lightening is safe as can be. Washington was talking about the wr group and said Mariani is not acting like a return specialist only anymore. I'd say he is similar to Kendall Wright, good speed, good hands and he lays out for catches. Wright can def seperate better though

I agree with RavensShallBurn, he made some good points.

Also, the key thing with MM is that he doesn't fumble, he holds on to the ball both when catching and when returning, which is huge.

He doesn't look to return b4 he ensures the catch and he seems quite sure handed when running with it too.

Security at the return spot is vastly underrated.

Remember when we couldn't find a guy that could not muff returns? Be careful...

Mariani will stay for special teams if nothing else. He's in no danger.

I tend to agree. As long as he continues to perform on special teams, I think he's got a spot.
