With the signing of Laboy and Odom we are now more than likely going to go dline in the 1st round. The only way this changes is if we can snag a replacement or two in FA.

I don't see it unless we move up into the top 10 pick area, and really the top 7 or so. There will not be anyone left at 24 that would be a value pick. I see WR, a need and some depth at that position in this draft. Limas Sweed.

Actually there will be two Texas players drafted in the 1st but neither will be on defense.

BTW do I really need to go over all the Texas players that are solid NFL players?

    Tim Crowder
    Brian Robison
    Marcus Tubbs
    Rod Wright

    Linebackers
    Derrick Johnson

    DBs
    Quintin Jammer
    Michael Griffin
    Cedric Griffin
    Michael Huff
    Aaron Ross
    Nathan Vasher

Don't consider all of those players solid but Texas does produce good NFL talent I won't deny that. We don't need Limas Sweed though and he's the only Texas player going round 1 this year. I'd take Hardy, Thomas, Manningham, and even Jackson over Sweed. I just don't think he's as good as everyone is making him out to be. Going from possibly dropping into the second and now maybe a top 15 because of a 40 time is rediculous. He's big and can run yet doesn't get much seperation even with his speed.

I believe the point of this thread is that with the loss of two dlinemen to free agency and with our reluctance to spend money on free agents we are likely going to have to use our 1st round pick now to address the DE position.

Go to the Sweed thread if you want to talk about him. BTW the only reason anyone considered him a 2nd round pick is because of how deep the FA pool is this year for receivers and people questioned his speed. With the way he answered question 2 is the main reason he has shot up the draft charts.

Texas has two guys that will likely be taken in the 1st Jamal Charles is the 2nd one. He is now considered the 3rd best Rb in the draft behind McFadden and Mendenhall.

Gholston is a beast. I'd love to trade up to get him if we are wanting to solidify a top 3 d-line. I just don't see the value in a WR in the 1st. If we decide to keep our pick, I'm rooting for Cromartie or a Talib slip

Gholston is either a freak of nature or pure roids. I'm leaning towards the roids thing. His unbelievable numbers remind me of Tony Mandarch who was also a freak of nature coming out of college.
