If the cowboys were looking for a WR for the future they had plenty of opportunities to draft one and didn't. They could have had desean jackson but went CB instead with that 2nd 1st rd pick. In the 2nd rd they went TE because they really liked bennett out of A&M but witten had a new contract and is the best TE in the league. When is the kid going to play?

In the 4th rd they went for a physical runner in the barber mold with tasard choice. Great value but that was also an opportunity to get a decent Wr prospect.

DJ hackett was a guy they could have signed if they were looking were some longer term help. I'm not saying he is as good as williams but his cap hit would have been less than half as much and would have cost them nothing in picks.

The cowboy organization evaluates young talent well and have drafted well that is why they are a good team. Crayton is only a 7th rd pick. Romo an UFA and barber a 4th rd pick. Witten was an ealy 3rd rd pick. They didn't need to do this.

What the hell is so special about roy williams?

WR stats for the pass happy lions 07 & 08..

Charles johnson- 71 catches 1133 yards
    Shaun mcdonald-90 catches 1017 yards
    Mike furrey-69 catches 716 yards
Roy williams 81 catches 1070 yards

Williams is the 2nd best receiver on that team and was third in yardage last year.

He did have 12 more catches than the legendary mike furrey and 53 more yards than the legendary shaun mcdonald. yippee! That was worth a 1st, 3rd, 6th with a 7th next year?

You can see why the lions made the deal. Now if they can find a QB who has a clue where he is at they will be fine.

Roy Williams makes Dallas the most explosive offense in the league bar none. You can say what you want to about the WRs not getting catches and all that, the fact is they've got TO and a bunch of prospects. Crayton has had a good game or two this year, but RW is a huge upgrade and makes them more or less un-defendable if they start clicking. In the short term this will probably push Dallas's offense over the edge. Unfortunately, their current problem is their defense, and their future problem is their salary cap, and the addition of Roy Williams does absolutely nothing for the D and is eventually going to kill the salary cap for them. I like how Jerry Jones thinks when it comes to getting the best available players, I just don't think he's focused on the right thing. They need a secondary in a major way

    ah, easy on the love
it may or may not do a damn thing
there's plenty of offenses with weapons that can't do sqwat right now
Cincy, Indy and Cleveland instantly come to mind

the Cowboys are not in their own hierarchy all of a sudden
especially considering the mode of transport of ball to him is sporting a brken pinky, that he intends to play with, possibly making it worse

as a matter of fact, I think RoyE would have made teams like Philly, NYG, NYJ, New Orleans, Cleveland, etc.. just as dangerous

Unless RoyE is going to play CB, OL, or replace Wade, I don't see how he is going to make the Cowboys better. Sure, he'll free up TO a little so they can pass more often, but their problems aren't in the passing game - especially their WRs. The reason they have lost the last two games is in large part due to their unwillingness to stick with the ground game. After they run Barber five or six times, their done with the run. If anything, RoyE makes Dallas more one-dimensional than they already are.
