With the 33rd pick of the 2015 NFL Draft, the Titans select... wait there has been a trade! The New York Giants have traded for the 33rd pick and select Landon Collins, safety from Alabama. The Titans receive picks #40 & #108.

With pick #40 the Titans select Dorial Green Beckham, loser extraordinaire
With pick #108 the Titans select Fulback.... wait what?!... fullback Jalston Fowler

In recent news, the Titans have cut Jalston Fowler and traded DGBNOIQ for OT Dennis Kelly.
Landon Collins makes the Pro Bowl but then begins to gvetch about team in the press. Collins is likely gone in NY after clearing out his locker and saying goodbye to teammates yesterday. Meanwhile, Dennis Kelly becomes an integral part of the Titans OL rotation. Titans select Kevin Byard and intend to invest long term in the gritty FS, a position more highly coveted than the SS position Collins occupies.

My question is this, in hindsight, would you have rather had the Titans select Collins with the 33rd pick, or for the scenario to have unfolded the way it has?

Personally, I think it has worked out quite well for the Titans and would vote to keep it the way it is.

If the Titans use the pick on Collins and he starts to excel, they likely don't select Byard with a high pick the next year in 2016. Byard has been the far better player of late, with an elite status grade of 88.4 last year while Collins had an "above average" grade of 70.4. Vacarro almost matched Collins in run defense this year and Collins coverage grade wasn't even top 50 for safeties.

Meanwhile Kelly has been incredible filling in for Conklin and Lewan the past two years.

If the argument is Byard and Kelly vs Collins, then yea, I'm happy with how it played out. Especially if the latter is just going to be unhappy and gone after his first contract.

You could literally do this with any draft pick in history - we could have had X player! Stupid GM!

    Here's an even better one:

With the 8th pick in the 2011 NFL Draft the Tennessee Titans select - Jake Locker.

With the 11th pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans select - JJ Watt.

That one is particularly painful IIRC because ATL traded to #7 and grabbed Julio Jones. And I was like...OK....well we can get Watt but we went Locker and then our division rival landed Watt. Super bummer draft for me.
