We only have an outsiders' perspective, but it seems Dodd has no desire to play football, and no work ethic to boot. Which doesn't make much sense, considering he was never a player who could get by solely on athleticism and natural ability and had to work for years until he started in college.

The injuries, being in the dog house with the coaching staff, the pressure of being a high pick, and honestly the heckling from the "fans" have probably made him desperate to move on. He was praised by scouts for his work ethic. Something had clearly gone wrong.

 

Or maybe he just was never good and benefited from playing on the same line with Vic Beasley and Grady Jackson.

 

Beasley was in the NFL when Dodd became a starter. And I'm assuming that you are referring to Jarrett, who was also in the NFL at the time.
