A true Kentuckian would know that bourbon is ONLY made in Kentucky, under stirct state law guidelines to earn the name "Bourbon".

It is not a bourbon. It can only say "bourbon" on the bottle if it is made in KY under state guidlines. Everything else is sour mash or blended.
KY makes the most bourbon, because only KY makes bourbon...

Just like "Champagne" is only made in France under specific guidlines. Everything else is "sparkling wine"...

    Bourbon, bourbon, bourbon!

    Interesting andedote courtesy of Rolltide..

Near bardstown where jim beam is made and some other fine bourbon is The Abbey of Gethsemene a Catholic Trappist monestary of the Cistercian order.

It was here that a young Thomas Merton came and would write his best selling autobiography "Seven story mountain" and his many other books. He was a very popular 1960s author who was one of the first christian writers to write extensively and deeply about eastern religions. He also wrote many books about social justice, war and race relations which were ahead of his time.

Not trying to get religious or political on anyone but Merton's stature as a writer did bring lots of attention to the monastery where people of all faiths can come to pray or do a retreat.
