If they don't already know this, it's a good thing they aren't relied upon to do any serious tasks for their entire life.

    :werd:

bring in all the #2's you feel like
as long as it upgrades the depth, I'm all for it

it'd still be nice to have someone better than Gage though

We still have the option to put ealy, p williams or davis on the practice squad. I think ealy will make the team and one the PS while the other hits the road. If Jmac shows up and doesn't impress anyone then we just eat some penalty and cut him.

So it we would be better to have 8 average receivers on the roster, then to have 5 or 6 QUALITY guys?? Depth is great and all, but you need great players to make great plays, otherwise we will continue to get average results from average players. We need to get better at WR, not stay the same. Improvement is the key. Is jmac better than the others?? if so, then sign him up. If he is marginal, forget about it. The playing time would be better spent on giving the younger guys a shot on the field. Those guys might not seem that great right now, but neither did courtland finnegan a year ago. It is pointless bringing a guy in "for depth" that has seemingly reached his potential, which is not very high. Get a great receiver in and give the young guys a shot.

If you believe guys like Paul Williams and Chris Davis have the potential to become starting WRs, why bring in mediocre talent just to keep them down on the depth chart?

Are you saying that Fish and Co don't think PWilliams and CDavis have the potential to become starting WRs?

He's saying if our FO think Davis and P-Willy are going to become starters why get average guys for 2 years like J-Mac to keep them lower on the depth chart instead of letting them get reps.

I'm still all for signing Johnson/Hackett/Carter in that order. Nobody else though is worth it IMO. JMac is nothing more than Brandon Jones at this point in his career. Yes 4 years ago he was solid but not great even then so what is he now? And expect BJ to get cut so what would you expect of JMac?
