Titans reach deal with second-round pick

Posted by ESPN.com's Paul Kuharsky The Titans have agreed to terms on a contract with second-round pick Jason Jones, a defensive tackle out of Eastern Michigan.
While able to play end, Jones is expected to get the majority of his work inside.
Along with the move, the team continued to trim its roster by releasing veteran defensive end Bryce Fisher. The Titans sent a sixth-round pick to Seattle last year in exchange for Fisher who was under contract for two more years. They expected the veteran would serve as an insurance policy on the line, but he played little and made no impact.
It would be easy to say Tennessee wasted a pick in trading for Fisher, but the logic made sense. Now, the Titans clearly feel comfortable with Jevon Kearse and fourth-rounder William Hayes. Fisher might find a better opportunity elsewhere.

Yeah, no kidding. The justification in the article is terrible. Yes, it may have been the good thing for us to do for him, to give him a chance to catch on somewhere else, but that doesn't help the fact that this was clearly a bad trade. Too bad, at least we've got some other options for this season.

In case you forgot, we cut our 5th rounder last year. So, there is a possibility that that guy would have gotten cut anyway. Hope CJ gets done in time.

Of course picks get cut. That doesn't change the fact that this turned out to be a bad idea. A pick for a guy who only suited up for a couple of games, and got VERY little playing time. One of the downsides of taking on so many projects...

Trading a 6th rounder for depth isn't THAT bad. Clearly it didn't turn out to be an awesome trade, but it could have been way worse. It's pretty unlikely that the 6th rounder would have ever amounted to much.
