I'm surprised no one has posted this

First of all... boo this lady for putting her son's private conversation, and an unknowing third-party's business, out in public. For what? Attention? Can't you get sued for this?

Second, kuddos for JRob for not willing to go above $20M. That's smart football planning. If AJ just wants to chase the bag, great, good luck homie. He has the choice to not play and possibly ruin his career like Le'veon Bell, or go all out on a contract year.

At this point, if we have a 1st and 3nd/or better offer on the table (which I doubt because the Titans are losing leverage as AJ decreases his own trade value), take it. If not, don't extend him. Force him to play or sit out. If he balls out, Franchise Tag and trade him. If he gets hurt again or sucks, resign him for his actual value or let someone else overpay and we get a 3rd comp.

Again, his numbers are very similar to Tyreek Hill's over the same span. Is Tyreek not an elite WR? He certainly got valued as an elite WR, both in trade value and contract value.

So this what I’ll do, I’m going to post a bunch of WR that have had pretty decent numbers over the last 3 seasons (if they played 3 seasons) and let the rest of the board chime in. Some are better, some are worse but there are more than 10 better.
Ftr, Brown was not That close to Hill. Much closer to mike Williams or Marvin Jones

    AJ Brown (missed 7 games)
    52-1051-8
    70-1075-11
    63-869-5
Total 185-2995-24 (ranks 27-14-8T among WR the last 3 years)

Cooper Kupp 331-4082-29 (1 game missed)
Devante Adams 321-3924-34 (7 games missed)
    Tyreek Hill 256-3375-31(5 games missed)
Diontae Johnson 254-2764-20 (2 games missed)

Adam thielen 171-2069-30 (missed 11 games)
Tyler Boyd 236-2715-14 (2 games missed)
Russell gage 187-2002-9 (3 games missed)
Deebo Samuel 167-2598-10 (11 games missed)
Branding cooks 213-2770-14 (4 games missed)

Calvin Ridley 184-2521-18 (15 games missed)
Jarvis Landry 207-2584-11 (6 games missed)

Remains to be seen if they are better/worse but after 1 year, there’s argument at least for comparable.
    Jaylen Waddle - 104-1015-6 (1 game missed)
    Jamarr Chase - 81-1455-13
    Aman st. Brown - 90-912-5
    Devonta Smith - 64-916-5

    These guys only 2 years
    Justin Jefferson- 196-3016-17
Michael pittman Jr- 128-1585-7 (3 games missed)
Ceedee Lamb- 153-2037-11 (1 game missed)
    Darnell Mooney- 142-1686-8
Tee Higgins- 141-1999-12 (3 games missed)

Everything considered here including games missed, I’d put AJ Brown around 15. That’s subjective which is why I didn’t label the 14 I have above him.

I agree. Brown is our best receiver but not THE best receiver. He also gets the dropsies from time to time and doesn’t consistently dominate. I want to keep him, but he isn’t worth top 5 money. He may get there, but hasn’t show that yet.

If we were the kind of team to throw AJ the ball 10 times a game then I’d say have a legit argument to get super paid.

But even as great as he is no WR has ever been worth top money to this team. It’s just not a premium position in my opinion. He’s gonna get paid and it most likely won’t be by the Titans.

We were almost at 50/50. We ran 53% and pass 47% last season. People are talking like it’s 80/20. The games we lost when Julio and Brown were out prove how important a true #1 WR is to us. But our #1 isn’t the #1 and we pass enough that the stats would bear that out if he were a #1. He is very, very, good, but he isn’t top 5 money good.

53/47 is the going rate for the league’s “running teams”. Has been for a long time. Typically, that balance (at least for Tennessee) also coincides with how good the team was that year.
    Year-pass%/run%
    21-51.2/ 48.8 ranked 31 in pass%, #1 was 66.4 (TB)
    20- 49.7/ 50.3 ranked 30, #1 was 66.2 (Jax)
    19- 51.2/ 48.8 ranked 30, #1 was 67 (Atl)
    18- 51.5/ 48.5 ranked 31, #1 was 67.5 (GB)
    17- 55.4/ 44.6 ranked 25, #1 was 63.8 (MIA)
    16- 52.8/ 47.2 ranked 30, #1 was 65 (Balt)
    15- 62/38 ranked 11, #1 65 (det)
    14- 61.2/ 38.8 ranked 10, #1 was 66 (Oak)
    13- 55.2/ 44.8 ranked 25, #1 was 68.6 (Atl)
    12- 60.5/ 39.5 ranked 10, #1 was 66.2 (Det)
    11- 61.8/ 38.2 ranked 4, #1 was 67 (Det)
    10- 55.2/ 44.8 ranked 21, #1 was 65.6 (ARZ)
    09- 49.6/ 50.4 ranked 29, #1 was 63.2 (Ind)
    08- 48.6/ 51.4 ranked 29, #1 was 63.8 (ARZ)
    07- 47.8/ 52.2 ranked 32, #1 was 66.3 (Det)
    06- 50.4/ 49.6 ranked 26, #1 was 68.4 (Det)
    05- 61/39 ranked 6, #1 was 66.5 (ARZ)
    04- 60.1/ 39.9 ranked 6, #1 was 65 (Oak)
    03- 51.3/ 48.7 ranked 27, #1 was 63 (NYG)

That’s as far back as my reference goes.

The point is, despite name, 50/50 is a run first team. Titans also do much better the closer to 50/50 they get.

Yes, and my point is, even at 50/50 you are still throwing half the time. Plenty of passing to establish whether a WR is a top 5 or not.

Agreed. He’s proven he’s not top 5 or even top 10, so there are no grounds for him to demand top 10 money outside knowing there are teams dumb enough to pay it. If that’s the route he goes, I hope he enjoys his longer off seasons and just drops any idea of winning a SB.
