Thurman may be reinstated this season but he's very similar to Pac as an extremely talented player suffering from chronic stupidity. Would it be a good move for a team desperately needing linebacker help but also fighting conduct issues to give him another chance?
    What would you do?

    #51 Odell Thurman | LB
    Year:2005 Round:2 Pick:16, Bengals

he's got a great wiki. it's interesting how similar he and pacman really are. Both are Georgia boys. They both had to deal with close deaths early in life. I like the way the wiki began.

He sounds like a burgeoning alcoholic. Hopefully, I'm wrong but the Bengals still need to make sure he won't have this happen again. Again, he's like Pac in the fact that he is a Top 5 player at his position when on the field, but is often suspended.

Bengals are on the downslide and have character issues all over the board... It could be wise to blow things up and start chopping off all the bad weight, but it's not likely that's gonna happen. I figure Marvin Lewis hopes he's finally gotten through to these guys and wants to keep his job. He'll welcome back talent over character, and hope that his team can recapture what they had two years ago (what in the hell happened to the Bengals anyway? There doesn't look like much of a turnover in the roster from their division-winning year, was it just the defence continued being crappy, but didn't force the turnovers they once did?)

Sorry, didn't really answer the question of what I'd do. I'd take him back, because I'm an idiot who would rather a bad guy bite me in the rear one more time than let a good guy go somewhere else forever (hello Pac you sorry punk). Thurman had some game, the Bengals can't afford to just let that go on a struggling defence, and with his issues, his value can't be that high.

I agree. If not, they should have just fired him. Why dangle that carrot?

  9. He even picked off Steve Mcnair and took it back to the house. :ha:
