How important is shutting down Gronk...

Honestly, Derrick Henry is the most important factor in shutting down Gronk. He can't ball if we're on offense

 

That’s the thing though.

You put two on gronk, you’ve probably got Jackson out there on cooks by himself. Can’t double everywhere.

Keys is to make sure Brady gets dirty. Early and often. Whether he completes the pass or not, he gets smacked in the mouth every drop back.

Same goes for gronk. Every time he gets a catch, blow him the eff up.

NE is a finesse team. You beat finesse teams by punching them in the face until they don’t want any more.

 

Gronk is too big for DB's and too fast for LB's which is why that guy is a match up nightmare. The defense should focus more on disrupting Brady.

 

Brown is faster than Gronk but doesn't seem good in coverage.

 

Yes that’s true. That’s why we have to make Brady uncomfortable early. If Brady has to move out of the pocket a lot that will disrupt his rhythm.

 

Sounds good, but it's easier said than done. I just hope that DLB has a few tricks up his sleeve.

 

We have to be able to get to Brady rushing 4. If we resort to the blitz too much TB will tear our secondary to shreds.

We don't have to sack him every time, just hit him often. Disrupt his rhythm. And we have to able to disrupt his pocket at the guard. TB just steps up in the pocket against edge rushers and throws strikes all day long if we can't get into his face and throw him on ground early and often.

Miami disrupted him like that and had him so flustered that he didn't convert one third down the entire game. Easier said than done obviously but to have a chance, that's what we'll have to do.

 

Let brown/woodyard snd cyp cover him. Let him catch those short passes, have an lb hold him up, then have cyp knock him out. Gronk obviously is a fan of cheap shots, so we should deal them out regularly.

 

Cyp tries to get under Gronks skin. Gronk hits Cyp in the back of the head. Gronk gets ejected, Cyp has to sit. Two birds with one stone.

Honestly, Gronk is going to get his. It's as simple as... "You can't stop it...you can only try to contain it." If you can contain it...you can live with that. IF you can get to Brady at a decent clip, then you may force 2-3 would be completions into throws behind him...or low/high. That's a win. Just eliminate the huge plays we gave to Kelce early.

 

I'm not a fan of cheap shots, but Gronk is a POS sooooo
