    Hawk...

Ran a 4.57 at the combine and that is probably the truer indication of his speed.

He also did 24 reps at 225 lbs which is 8 more than chad greenway did. Does it move him up? Yeah to the third pick in the draft!

What we are finding out is that there are some serious stud prospects that will be available with that third pick so we better not be reaching for a QB. A williams or hawk would seriously upgrade our defense and open up other options. Like dealing laboy or opening up cap room but letting sirmon go.

Who really cares if the forty times are scewed. The forty is a means of comparing player's speed. If the system lowers the times across the board, it doesn't matter. You can still compare the times of players. It is clear when one player is faster than another. Does it really matter if in actuallity a DB ran a 4.8 and an oline man ran a 5.4. Instead of say 4.4 and 5.0 respectively? The need to know the speed of a player is all relative to other players so that coaches/GM can make comparisons. I don't think it matters that much. If track runners want to say that NFL players are not that fast as they claim ok. Who the hell cares. It isn't a pissing contest between track stars and football players. It is a tool used for making comparisons.

If they all ran at the combine where the conditions are equal and only ran there, I would agree with you. But they don't, many run at their pro-days and will have their times compared to other players who held pro-days under totally different circumstances.

With the amount of stock there seems to be put on the 40 time a .2 difference is a lot, and a .2 difference is what will happen if the guy on the trigger is just a tad too slow or too fast.

Because they aren't equal across the board? How does a person run a 4.5/4.6 time, then run a 4.3 time? You don't just lose .3 off your speed within 3 weeks.

The easy solution is to only put weight on a 40 time if it is + or - .2 seconds of what you thought it would be. I think most GM's do that anyways.

He's all hype. Remember Josh Harris? that's what I thought, he put up better numbers in the same offense a couple of years ago. Think Lamont playing QB, do you really want this?:sad2:
