I went Stewart just because from what I've read the staff is taking their time deciding CJ's fate, I could even see us waiting until FA starts and seeing the market for a replacement before deciding if CJ is gone or not as well.

Stewart. He simply makes too much and getting him out sooner is for the best. Want to give him a change to find a decent 2nd team.

I voted Michael Griffin, his contract is 8 million, I just hope he restructures it for more seasons (back ended sort of deal). Could get 3 players with that sort of money.

Since we are already currently under the cap, theres really no rush to cut anyone. The teams we're seeing let guys go are doing it mostly to be in compliance with the salary cap rules. So as of today all those guys listed are safe.

But xpmar9x does bring up an important point. The sooner we release Stewart and the others, the sooner they can catch on somewhere else. We'd actually be doing some of these guys favors by cutting them sooner rather than later.

But to be serious players in free agency, we do need to cut some fat and soon.

Stewarts cap savings is quite big (2nd highest to Roos @ over $6M), so IMO he's the first to go if we're trying to free up some money.

Well yes and no. We are over the cap but not by a whole lot. If we want to sign some good FA and resign Verner we are going to need to clear a little space.

Stevens at 4 million is a joke. Guy makes about 500,000 a catch. Washington at 4.8 is to much and griffin is certainly not an 8 million dollar man. Stewart probably goes first but wimbley at his number is terrible when he is not on the field but, if we re-do his deal he does fit better with horton than gray.

Exactly. He's an average RT, could start for multiple different teams, and he deserves a chance to go to one of those teams. If we hold onto him, he may not get that chance. With his cap savings beind 2nd highest on the team and his average play, he's a MUST for letting him go. Thanks for all the years, sad to see you go Big Country, but the time is now. Hopefully we can do it with no hard feelings.
