Yep... but also were against blacks as they "believed" they were going with the loyalists and wanted their newfound power reduced.

The kkk was anti-black from the beginning - partially due to it fitting what they stood against politically in the post - war south.

That is fact. Raised next to Nathan Bedford Forrest Park near Waverly, TN so I've gotten both sides of how they came to be. A few things were clarified as to the extremities of the organization, but they were always anti-black to some degree.

Anyway...regardless, that statue is simply ugly.
