Posted by ESPN.com's Paul Kuharsky Early on I decided Player of the Week Awards wouldn't qualify for blog entries.

Player of the Month -- with apologies to Albert Haynesworth (September) and Andre Johnson (October) - is a different story.

Here's the news release the Colts sent out on Dwight Freeney's November:

Indianapolis Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney has been named AFC Defensive Player-of-the-Month for November.

Freeney helped the Colts to a 5-0 November record by leading the defense with five sacks and two forced fumbles. Freeney recorded a sack in three of five November games, including multiple-sack games at Pittsburgh November 9 and vs. Houston November 16, the 15th and 16th multiple-sack games of his career. Freeney's biggest play came in the Colts' 10-6 victory November 30 at Cleveland. With the Colts trailing 6-3 with 9:55 remaining in the game, Freeney's sack-fumble of QB-Derek Anderson was recovered by DE-Robert Mathis and returned 37 yards for the Colts only score and a 10-6 lead, the game's final margin.

This is the third such honor for Freeney. He was named for the monthly award in December/January of 2004, and in September of 2005.
