If Finnegan is willing to accept a reasonable offer, they'll get it done before March. If he's looking for top five money, I can see the team doing what they did with Haynesworth and franchising him for a season with the stipulation they work out a contract or he walks at the end of the 2012 season.

    Either way, I think he's a Titan in 2012.

We might have the talent at cb to move him into a safety position and his aggression I think is needed back there.

    Just an idea folks.

Even if the Titans can't reach a deal with Finnegan, they will franchise him. He's not going anywhere. He's way too important to the defense. A lot of the new scheme has been built around him and his new position as slot corner. He is the Titans' Charles Woodson.

My guess would be that he will want a crapton of money, the Titans will say nope and then just franchise him. Then, the two sides will eventually figure out a long-term deal that is good for both sides. As fans, we will just have to be patient and let the process work itself out. It might mean he sits out of camp next year (as a lot of franchise players do) and that would really suck, but the Titans can't afford to let him walk but they also can't afford to give him Nnamdi money.

Edit: Crap. TitanJeff just said pretty much the same thing as me... What he said.

He tends to play bigger than he is. Fearless.

In regards as to why this came up, I'm always looking at draft ideas and this years cb position is pretty deep, while the S is lacking. We could pay him hopes money and no one here would flinch.

I think the FO knows that screwed the pooch with the CJ deal and I think its going to put pressure on them.

No way you you mess with the contracts of your two bests players like that. Especially since Finny has been fairly quite about the situation. I think this gets handled pretty quickly in the off season.

Getting into the safety discussion...I wonder if they have looked at having Tommy Campbell move to safety. Given his size, speed and wingspan I think he could make a nice safety. Seems to like contact as well given how he has done as a gunner.

Tommie could be a safety, I mean he was at one point in his life, but he lacks the experience to make him better than Finnegan.
