    Lol...

I do it with paper and then put it on a computer file around the time of the combine. If I had a real big board in my basement, my wife would have me committed!

I think the Titans have no interest in Maualuga, Laurinaitis or Cushing. I think all three of those guys are overrepped a bit. They can be great players, but they're a bit of a waste in our scheme. Matthews on the other hand, I see as versatile enough to play as needed behind the current starters. I also suspect he could upgrade the middle for us. Better size and speed than Tully. I wouldn't want to do it, but Matthews can play some 4-3 DE, too.

We got through it with Bulluck in a similar holding pattern, so it wouldn't surprise me with Matthews. Fisher could feel very comfortable in this area.

I can see this scenario happening easily, but the thing going in his favor is he does seem to be developing more reliable hands. Hey, if he comes here, you know he'll be catching bricks! Brick City, what? (No, that was bad.)

I think for his size, his route running is pretty good. This is a basketball player at his core. It'd be like me expecting Lou Alcinder coming out of school to run some great routes for me. I'm pretty pleasantly surprised with where he's at now.

And because he's a basketball player, that's why he's intriguing. Lemme be honest about what I expect from him: TD production (1) - another strong option in the red zone - we get most production on runs, and we need to diversify our real threats; (2) coverage dictation - opening things up for everyone else - you know no team could leave this guy uncovered - they may learn it takes two to cover this monster. Everything else is gravy. When you pare down what he can do, to me, skying for TDs and just being bigger than everyone else exists regardless of competition. This is why he bears closer consideration. He could be the LenDale White of wide receivers for all I care. I don't see anybody else catching those TD passes with any regularity over here, and that's what it's about for me -- more options to get in the endzone, versus flashy yardage. Other guys can be the recipients of that.

    Yes...

I agree. I don't see us taking a MLB...especially since Tulloch is doing a nice job and MLB for us is really like a half time starter considering we play so much nickel. I also doubt we take Matthews. Sure he could play SOME DE on passing downs and learn how to cover and backup and play special teams. I'm not saying he doesn't have value and couldn't take over for Bulluck in a few years while helping some...but we can get a lot more production out of other players we could take with that pick. A Hakeem Nicks should be a full time starter in 1 year and help out right now. An Alex Mack could probably start from day 1 and give us a Pro Bowl caliber player by year 2-3. A good CB (Butler) would probably be starting next year after taking over for Harper. So in terms of on field production...we'd be smarter to go a different route. However, if Cecil is gonna be MUCH more creative with HOW he uses players, that could mitigate this to some extent. Matthews IS a very good pass rusher and his 10 yd burst is as good as the fastest WR's in the draft.

I don't see Matthews moving to MLB though. His best attribute is rushing the passer...not fighting through trash and taking on blockers. Plus, if he developed into our weakside LB, then him having free range to track down RB's with his burst is ideal.

    Well...

LOL! Let's just say I'm not high on Britt and hope we don't take him (which means we're sure to!).

The problem is that Barden has GREAT hands...when he's not contested. Sure he can win jump ball contests with DB's...but he doesn't always come down with it like a Fitzgerald would...and Barden is at least 2 inches taller than Fitz. Secondly, QB's don't like tossing up jump balls...especially over the middle of the field so Barden will need to get OPEN. Sure, he can sit on the sidelines til we get to the 5 yd line, but that's NOT what I'm looking for in a 3rd rnd WR. You can take a tall jump ball specialist in rnd 7.

Barden was handled in Senior Bowl practices by CB's who are almost a foot smaller than him...one on one. Mainly because he rounds his cuts. I'm not saying I expect him to run Reggie Wayne like cuts now, but he won't be a good WR til he learns how to do this. When you're in his position (in college), it's easy to not run good cuts. He's a giant among boys and faster than a lot of them. The Senior Bowl was an example of how his level of competition is gonna force him to improve or he'll be a worse version of Matt Jones (without the drug problem). If he allows good CB's to under cut his routes because he rounds them, then Collins is not gonna throw him the ball unless it is a fade. I do like Barden's work ethic though and he certainly SAYS all the right things. If chosen by the Titans, I would expect him to come in on red zone plays and perhaps short yardage plays too. He's an excellent run blocker...especially if you put him in motion and let him crack block the DE and let your OT lead around against the OLB or CB. So the question is...will he learn to run good routes, how quickly can he do this, how good will he be IF he does develop his route running and exploding out of cuts?

    Lol...nuff said about Britt.

I think you nailed the concerns with Barden. Especially that he says the right things, but he does have a great work ethic, and I do believe he wants to be the best.

I kind of get on one of these small school WRs every year, that start out as a 4th-5th, that I think will end up around the second. Jacoby Jones, Vincent Jackson, come to mind. I feel pretty sure that's where Barden will end up. I'd love to get him at #62, or trade up a bit if need be.

Love Barden in the second if he's there I'd be pissed if we passed on him. Route running needs some work more so his explosion in and out of cuts but the guy would be a monster in the red zone atleast his first year.

Big fan of OLB Lee Robinson of Alcorn State guy is bg, fast and very athletic would be perfect to groom under Bulluck and Thornton.

WR) Darrius Heyward-Bey:I love his speed. If he can work on his catching ability a little more he could be a top 3 WR, if not already.

WR) Louis Murphy: I'm not understanding why many people aren't talking about him. Yes he's another speedster at UF behind Tebow/Harvin but he has the talent and skills to make a big impact in the NFL.

DE) Michael Johnson: Alot of "experts" have said that he's an underachiever, he's not consistent enough, he might only be a pass-rush kind of DE. Well I think when we have a guy like Washburn he can make this guy into an all-pro DE because of his freakish athleticism.

    Well...

He needs to work on his routes, exploding out of cuts, catching the ball with his hands all the time, timing the jump ball better, and blocking better. He's got the size and speed part down...

Murphy's a boom/bust player with probably more bust at this point. He's got great size/speed ratio but his 20 yd shuttle is actully SLOWER than his 40...that's unheard of (in a bad way) for a WR! He doesn't block, doesn't high point the ball, body catches and doesn't run good routes. He also drops the ball on big contact. What's not to like?

A guy of his athleticism should be ripping up LT's and eating them for lunch. Instead, he shows up a couple of times a game and then takes a nap. This guy has freakish athleticism for the NFL which shows how much of an advantage he has against college players...and yet he barely does anything!

He's a better athlete than Everett Brown and Brown does what Johnson should...destroys offenses.

Michael Jonson may just be another guy who never quite makes it and will just keep teasing...

A lot of various fans are wanting him, so I'd assume GMs are in on the secret. I'd take him over almost every cb in the draft this year outside the first 2 rounds. His tape is more impressive than any (other than maybe Jenkins, who is too slow) of the others and against better competition.
