Someone was asking in another thread how today's culture is trash....just read through 5 pages of this thread...

It's fitting that Lindsey Lohan was in that clip. One of the Queens of the current trash culture. Do you realize that next year she'll be old enough to buy alcohol?

lindsay lohan has nothing to do with the culture turning to trash, the media giving her all their air-time does.

i couldnt give a **** if paris hilton is going to jail for a month....well, that's a lie, i'm thrilled about it. but that doesn't stop the media from covering it non-stop.

the problem isn't the people the media covers, it's that people want the media to cover them. if people weren't so obsessed with celebrities, there would be no reason to mention them outside of their fields of entertainment.

it's just like why all you hear on the news is about crime, you would think the crime rate would be through the roof, when in fact, it's been lowering for the past decade. people like things that are violent and show people at their worst, and the news give it to them for ratings.

so, i don't think the culture is turning to trash, it just seems that way because of the exposure the bad gets.

 

I agree with what you said Big, it's the media reporting trash, the trash the masses seem to want. There's always been an element of trash in the culture, but today the trash culture has become the mainstream.
Instead of comparing Mozart to Handel, we're comparing low brow cartoons.
