Extending Verner's contract

There is such thing as a franchise tag too. Although he may not want to sign the tender.

What kind of scares me is , yes he is having a great year ..

How much of this is Williams doing ...?

And will he still play the same way ,if Williams is gone ,and gray runs the defense ...

we know Williams has some effect on how he is playing this style ..

 

Verner has always been crafty. Even with Chuck Cecil calling plays.

 

Oh God, please don't bring up Chuck Cecil again.

 

I have a bad feeling he will leave in free agency.

would Vern accept a contract similar to JMAC's? 5 year @ 8M a year? I'd be ALL FOR IT.....

we have some expensive contracts finishing this year and next as well, so i imagine we can use some of that money on ATV (and Casey too).

IMO Rus should have already made contact to ATV/Casey to try and resign them. or maybe he's trying to play it smart and wait for more CBs/DTs to catch up in terms of stats to lower the asking price a bit....

i don't know, but in my mind, both these guys should remain with the team.

 

There's some real negative Nancies on this board. Some must know exactly what Verner's thinking.


Some players DO have team loyalty and like the stability of playing with a team their familiar with. It wouldn't be a stretch if he wanted to re-sign to try to finish accomplishing something he started. We have a good defense and are getting close to having the pieces to have a great defense.


If I was the FO I'd offer him that extension.
