Just passing along a possible hint for others who might be heading down to the draft Friday/Saturday....

We went down last night and when we got there we got in Virtual line using the Fan Mobile App for a chance of getting into the Drafted Fan Zone....of course it said we were number 14,548 in line....so we figured no chance of getting in...they were going to open Selection Square aka the Schermmerhorn at 5:00pm for people to go inside....well by 5:40 it still had not opened up and a NFL guy tells all of us in line that they are going to give us wristbands and escort us all up to the Drafted Fan Zone....so they led us all right up near the front right behind the inner circle section.

My take is that the virtual line system was a total failure and they had to have people in the area right up close to the stage and instead of just opening it up for a free for all they decided to do what they did.

So if you are going you might want to try and get in line at the Schermerhorn before it opens and maybe you too will get lucky and get to be right up near the front.

Man, that's awesome you got to do that. I was only about 30 feet from the front of the barricade and I couldn't really see the stage at all. I may try what you suggested.

Everyone was bragging about how great the draft was handled, as someone who was there, I disagree. Seemed like a poorly planned event to me. Putting the stage on the end of a street is a horrible idea. The vast majority of people in attendance couldn’t see anything at all. Not to mention having the draft outdoors in the rainiest month of the year is dumb. Draft should always be inside. I was number 900 on the list and got a notification at pick 29 I had been drafted. The vast majority of the fan section was over half empty the entire draft. Just watch the overhead crowd shots. Prime real estate sat empty while thousands of people stood in miserable rain and couldn’t see anything. Draft couldn’t have been planned more poorly.

Looked good on TV tho...and that's what they care about.....just like going to a game...usually better viewing and easier to be home watching instead.

I’m not sure what you were expecting, but it must have been unrealistic. I can think of several ways it could have been planned more poorly.

This is the first negative thing I've heard besides the beer prices.

They probably weren’t far enough to the front to be able to see all the wasted space. Checked in at noon to get in the fan zone and waited all day for absolutely no reason. We were as close to the front as the general public could get and could barely see Goodell.

I did notice the empty space. It looks like they adjusted that for tonight.

The empty strip down the middle to the street is strange but I suppose it's for emergencies.

i thought it was more for cameras, it seemed lined up with the overhead camera.. wouldn't want it to fall on someone?
