I feel bad you just compared Moch to Matthews and Mathis. When I said he breaks down like a lineman, it was an insult. The guy is sloppy when he hits the brakes. That is fine as a college DE, not an NFL LB. This guy is getting too much attention for nothing. I'd personally rather him stay a DE if we ever took him. That 4.4 speed goes a lot further as a DE. And I wouldn't touch him til the 5th if he's there.

Why don't you try reading. I didn't compare him to Matthews i said teams that play a 3-4 want a guy with speed off the edge in the hope he can be like that. Who has better speed off the edge a 4.80 guy or a 4.44 guy?

    WTF are you talking about?

Robert Mathis was a 5th rd pick and is 6'2 245. He was only 235 when drafted and he ran a 4.67 40. What was so overwhelming about him when the Colts drafted him?

And you still don't get that a 3-4 OLB is a hybrid lineman. Many of the top 3-4 OLBs were 4-3 defensive ends in college.

Watch him try slowing down to make a play, he's awful, and will get raped in the NFL.
You're always so quick to point out numbers and stats, the guy will be your next Vernon Gholston.

Hold on..... Let me guess, you now want Dontay Moch because someone told you they don't like him for us... Am I right?

rolltide was explaining his reason for comparing him to mathis so i dont see why you think he is bring in stats either and he is making a solid point about the 3-4 hybrids

Moch would be worth a 3rd rd pick even if he was only a situational pass rusher. That's how Mathis started with the Colts and Mathis still gets a lot of relief on run downs.

Moch would be a great gunner on punts and great in kick coverage.

I agree that our change from a 9 to a 7 technique makes a speed DE like him less valuable and that it might take a couple of years for him to learn how to be a 4-3 OLB but you can do things with him. It's like Jared Cook on offense his athleticism and speed allow you to do more things with him.

He could be a situational pass rushing DE or he can lineup outside in a 3-4 look on occasion which i think we will do. He would be an interesting guy to have in zone blitz plays either in coverage or as a blitzing linebacker.
