I think you guys don't understand that they can do their part to fix games without sniping the star player of the team they wish to lose.
And don't act like the NBA didn't try their hardest to market Tim Duncan. That's Stern's boy. Same with "America's Blue Collar Team: Detroit Pistons" after 911?

Nope. Other than 1 game this finals has been called fairly well.

Why did they not let them get to the finals til 04 then? 9/11 happened in 2001 so they waited 3 years to get them in? Why didn't they get the knicks in after 9/11?

I'm not saying the NBA fixes games on a daily basis. And I don't know how long it's been going on for if it's even been going on.

All I know is the following:

    -Tim Donaghy definitely fixed games.
-David Stern has said blatantly that Superstars get more calls
-1 year after possibly the NBA's worst offseason publicity wise as well as other things, coincidently the Lakers and Celtics make it to the Finals.
-NBA Refs are sat down before every game and told what to do and what not to do by Senior NBA Officials.
-Tim Donaghy has said that Other Refs were also Involved in Fixing games.

All of that ^^ isn't easy to wipe your hands clean of. It's to much for me to dismiss and keep on thinking the NBA is playing it fair and square when Baseball and Football are also both as low as they've been.

well, your points are not that strong in my opinion.

1- Yeah, He did. This is your only strong point, but it does not indicate the nba was involved as you have a low wage person seeking greater wages in what he considers an unfair wage earning environment. Typical business stuff. But not game fixing. I cannot think of one business that does not run into this problem. A low wage earner wants his, and tries to get it.
2- Human nature. I have no problem with this. Even when you play streetball if the best players calls a foul, it's a foul. Don't even think about contesting it. You will lose. This is true of any sport. The best players get the benefit of the doubt from pee-wee to the pros. But is it ebough to mean that games are fixed. Not really. It just means the best players have the advantage. That has nothing to do with fixing games because the best players are not always marketable. It is unfair, but not game fixing.
3- I think you would have a tough time arguing that the Celtics and Lakers were not the two best teams. Coincidence maybe, but seriously, this final makes sense.
4 - I would not only expect this to happen, it should. This is nothing more than mentoring. They may take it too far sometimes. But if it didn't happen, refs would be even worse. Every profession does this.
5 - You have a known criminal making a statement, you need corroborating evidence of which I do not believe most people think exists.

I think it is quite a leap to take one person's fixing of games all the way to the league fixing games. I just don't see a connection yet. Is it possible, yes. Is there anything to prove it? In my opinion, no.

Phislamma's got it right. I mean thinking that boston and la are in the finals only because the fix is in is ridiculous. We know that boston is the best team in the east. And in the west the lakers were better than denver, utah, and san antonio this year. Superstars get calls in every sports and that's how it will always be. Barry bond's strike zone was always half the size of your average mlb player. And of course the league briefs them on what to look for in the game. In the sun-spurs series they said they need to look for shaq stepping over the line on free throws so they did and made the right calls. You make it sound like last night they came in and told them "hey pierce and garnett will have some close foul calls tonight so call them". All they do it brief them on stuff they've seen in the previous games to help them make some calls where otherwise they might miss.

Anyone else find it odd that most of the guys who voted that the nba fixes games are either celtic or lakers fans? Do you guys not actually think your teams are any good?

the nba does not fix games, that's not to say officials don't do it by themselves though.
