Clearly they under valued the DT position when Fat Al walked. I'll admit, I thought Haye would fit in well in a 4-man rotation at DT. Too bad Marks sucks too. If one of them was good, then maybe they'd both look alright.

I'm not disputing that for a second, but they made it pretty clear at the time they were addressing the hole via rotation.

My main point is that our FO has underestimated FAs as a whole. They seemed to think that they could get by with a bunch of scrubs rather than to have to pay fair market value for quality players.

They got lucky with KVB and Babin but those are 2 extraordinary cases.

And when they have paid up they usually give it to the wrong guys. Eugene Amano, Ryan Fowler to name a couple.

Big name FAs just aren't a totally proven commodity. This has been discussed to no end here already. Just look at The Steelers, then The Redskins.. Perpetual SB team vs. FA-happy mess.

I'm not saying that we should've broken the bank for AH or gotten all trigger happy on FAs but it would have been nice to get us some help instead of banking on guys like Fowler, Harper and Haye to produce.

From what I've heard, the year before we let AH go, we were $1 million apart in negotiations. Now look at the DT position, arguably the weakest postion on the entire team.

That's a great example of what I was getting at. He should have never hit the FA market, we should have locked him up long before that. Now look as us without him. Every position on the D is weaker as a result.

No doubt that Fisher was a liability at times with personnel. We will see w Munch. Who knows if he won't be limited to whomever the FO wants anyway.

This argument hinges entirely on AH performing after getting paid. If he had been "locked up" prior who knows if we even see 08 Albert.
This guy has pretty much either sucked or ridden the pine since leaving TN.
Good chance no team sees anything resembling 08 Albert from here on.
