This is a two phase problem.

Johnson at the moment , stinks. His running is hesitant , his decision making is relatively poor and the burst that used to carry him on into the second level seems to have gone. His confidence is shot.

The interior O-Line blocking if anything stinks more than Johnson. Against quality DL they are utterly hopeless and Johnson has to try and make something out of the collapsing shambles in front of him.

Now , are you gonna say that Johnson is finished and we should cut the ropes before we pay up any more dough or are you going to get some decent material into that interior line that can run block as a coherent unit before next season starts ? Interesting conundrum that one.

As I stand at the moment , if its my call - I actually do both and rework the offense completely from a run perspective.

I'm going to take it easy on CJ. His yardage total speaks for itself. What I haven't heard is anyone comment on his pass blocking. From where I was sitting, as far as I could tell, he could hardly get a chip, let alone a solid block even if he was going to release as the safety valve for the dump. I'm starting to see that the o-line is worse than I thought, but I'm beginning to think that it might be on the offensive scheme. I'm really asking for it here, but I'm going to say it anyways, but I'm beginning to wonder how CJ would look with Fisher coaching and someone (obviously not Dinger R.I.P.) not named Palmer at OC. Don't misunderstand me. I think that would negatively affect improvements in other aspects of the offense but at the same time I'm open to the possibility that Palmer doesn't know what he's doing schematically, at least from a runner's perspective.

Chances of staying upright increase to 100% if it is Michael Griffin doing the hitting
