Cheap flights?

    The flight will be on or around her 6th birthday. I'm not really comfortable with her flying alone. She's already scared to death to be flying back with me. Pretty sure her mother wouldn't go for it anyway.

    I would save a couple of hundred bucks that way, but I'd rather pay the extra money to be there and help her through it.

    Allegiant Air seems WAY cheap so I looked into baggage fees etc as you warned.. But from what I can tell there baggage fees seem in line with other airlines. $50 tickets compared to $200-300... It seems too good to be true. Someone did recommend them and said they flew with them before.

    I don't know what all of it means and baggage will be pretty minimal:

    I am familar with Allegiant, and know people who work for them. reliable but not the best of the best. Would probably suit your needs.

    Look at Southwest, try to book your flight on Tues and Wens, and clear your cookies after every search or before you buy.

    I'm not looking for the best of the best. As long as it's cheap and they get me there or back. The problem with them is their flights are few and far between.

    I could make the whole trip for around $200 except the flight TO TN is in the morning and the trip to CA is in the afternoon. If it were reversed it would be perfect. Just my luck.

    Thanks for the tips, I'll check it out.

    I've booked through Southwest before they seem reasonable. Also a friend uses Travelzoo, I haven't but she says it offers good deals.

    Priceline as well

    I've done a number of flights out west the past few years and $800 is roughly what it cost each time. I have not been able to find anything better when I have looked.

    Wish I could be of more help :(

    Enjoy the time with your girl though, it will be worth it.

    Looks like $700-800 is going to be the best deal for the schedule I need.

    You're right, any amount of money will be worth it. She will be here with me for at least 2 months....maybe longer. Haven't seen her since Nov. I had a week vacation in Cali planned but the cost was outrageous and waiting a few months allowed me to have her for 2 months vs 1 week.

    Appreciate the help everyone.

    if you get motion sickness take some dramamine with you and take it about an hour or two before your flight. get to the airport about 2 hours before you are scheduled to depart as well since this is your first time.

    I get brutal motion sickness and actually find ginger works the best. Take two capsules or tablets every two hours with a full glass of water (or you are tasting ginger all day). And it does not wipe you out like dramamine/gravol.
