Carr would definitely be an asset to the Titans as a punt returner only. He could and would give us some additional depth as a DB.

I would like to keep him. 1. For his ko/pr...most people underestimate that side of the game. There wasn't one time did I worry about a pr or ko while Carr was back there returning last season because he was so consistant, which I can't exactly say that in the past couple. 2. he provides depth...granted he's not spectacular as corner but he can come in and do a decent job when need be. He's a smart football player...In the games he played for us at corner he basically came off the bench in mid-season and performed well with the other guys.

I'm thinking that it's a good sign that it's been a full week and he hasn't signed. The more days go by, the better chance we have of signing him back. He's in a tough position, since he's trying to be a starter, but not getting many chances at it.

He's is a priority in my eyes from now on. He was visting NE during the week I read somewhere so I think, MR needs to get this guy signed asap. Good depth at DB and obviosuly a ggreat returner.

There's very little reason not to sign Carr. I don't know what he's asking, but it can't be that ludicrous - he's nothing but an asset in the return game, and he can hold up at corner. In the game of fitting the pieces of the puzzle, I feel like he's an entirely logical re-sign.

We need him, as long as he understands his role.

IMO Hawkins will return kicks until he works his way up to a legit WR that we cannot afford to get hurt.

Sign him up already. He should be cheap. Maybe he can become some great story if he eventually earns the starting spot, if not he is still very serviceable as a dime/5th back.

The only problem I saw when he hit FA is he made $2M last year. That's how badly we needed to secure the return game. When we re-signed Fuller, we got him for 3 years, $7.5M. I doubt anyone would argue that Fuller is more vital than Carr, and it would seem absurb to give Carr a higher rate of pay than Fuller. So the Titans know this and basically want to play in that +$500k or so range. Carr's thinking: I came in and did exactly what they asked me to do, first in the league, in fact, and I filled in and started a game. I should get an extension and more, because I want to play defense more and showed I can.

Carr's probably learning the hard way (I hope) that the rest of the league feels pretty much the same about his DB skills. I hope he comes back, because I really value his seady return skills, moreso than Justin Miller, who I would gladly take as a distant second, but would still be disappointed. Carr just feels like a Titan. He's a great piece to the puzzle, and you can't deny he fits the handle "specialist." If it was as easy to plug people in as it seems into these roles, all those guys like, yes, even our own, Donnie Nickey, Brian Mitchell, Rossum, etc. etc. etc. wouldn't be able to carve out these long-term careers for themselves.

I do hope Carr re-signs. we need that kind of stability to win a championship. I'd give him a two-year deal at the same rate as Fuller with about a million to sign (vs. $1.5M for Fuller, I believe), but whatever, as long as he's back.

By the way, I'm guessing stuff a lot to get ready for Starkiller's annual Titans draft pick contest next month. I hope we are doing that again, SK.
