Cam's got so much raw talent, much like Vince Young did. But I think Cam puts it together and becomes a superstar.

He's got a bazooka on his shoulder he's just got to use it right.

Are some of you actually serious?

First off, the article states why the comparison is WRONG, if you happened to read it.

Second, they are not comparable. Cam Newton's rookie season blows Vince Youngs career out of the water. Because a 2nd year mobile quarterback is struggling we compare him to one of the bigger busts in recent memory?

Vince had a great defense to keep him in games and bail him out when he struggled to quarterback an NFL team (quite often).. Cam Newton, not so much.. He has to carry the entire team, which is unfair to ask of any QB on his own let alone a 2nd year one.

Called Cam a bust. He went out and played well and won rookie of the year but late in the season he started struggling because teams were starting to figure him out. He kept a good attitude about it though and worked throughout the off season and said he's going to be a much better player and working with the coaches and etc. Well still struggling and now you're seeing who Newton is when he's actually losing. I'm not big fans of QB's like VY and Newton that would rather run around than throw the ball, they can be figured out and exploited more easily.

Crazy comparison (and I thought more highly of VY than most here). Cam has basically had 1 bad game against Seattle and made some mistakes in the other games with turnovers. This has a lot more to do with other people's expectations than what he has done on the field.

What is so talented about the Panthers? Their defense is terrible, their coach is terrible and their 2 Rbs are not on the field at the same time.

The Panthers lost to the best team in the nfc because they gave up a 60 yard pass from the one yard line. They just flat blew that game.

I like when people say he is not used to losing. Why is that? Oh that's right he took an average college team on his back and won a national title.

By the end of his third season at San Diego Drew Brees passing rating for his career was 75. And he wasn't rushing for 700 yards a season either.

The Chargers were so convinced of his greatness they used the top pick in the 2004 draft on Eli Manning.

Drew Brees was the next Tim Couch?

How do you judge a player 5 games into his 2nd season? Newton became the QB for a team that scored just 28 Tds the year before and won just 2 games. Now that team that had the worst record in the nfl in 2010 is loaded with talent? They had Smith, Williams and Stewart then!

the way Newton throws game losing INT's is more Kerry Collins than Vince Young

Based on careers, wouldn't it be more accurate to say Tebow "was" the next VY.

Tebow won a national title. Tebow had a team and they got rid of him (partially because of distractions yet obviously not the same as VY distractions). Tebow is a backup....

That seems to be a much similar career path to this point.
