You said "you hit it right on the head gloat....when are we gonna pay...let alone over pay. We havent "payed" for anyone in years."

Yet we paid Givens (the latest in a long line of bad luck with FA WR's) just a few years ago.

I didn't say that, some other poster did I'm just saying you can't look at Givens and say look at him we shouldn't get this guy who could help our team because of the past.

There is a reason they have not looked at him. Price would be the first obvious choice.

    1. You're right. Your response led me to the assumption that the last post was by you.
    2. I didn't say that we shouldn't go after anyone.
    3. I answered your question.

I'd offer him a 1 year "prove it" deal

I think this is a similar situation to Givens. The money Givens got seemed high at the time to me. We didn't know how good he'd be. Well Johnson is another one of those types (also like many of the other FA WR's we've seen).

One can argue a 1st round WR is a big risk, but so are most of the FA WR's we can likely land (forget the Moss's, TO's, CJ's, etc). Johnson and Hackett (I'll throw him in because he's similar to me) are intriguing. Both of these guys look like they may have a chance to be more productive in different situations. I guess that was the same thinking with Givens.

How much does that type get paid? If big overspenders are still out there, then that answer is too much. I'd wait and see what the market bares. I wouldn't be that team that overspends for these types of WR's, and I would think that the depth of the draft this year could offer similar talent. OTOH, if it's a reasonable deal, I'd welcome either of these guys. I guess this is maybe where incentive laden deals could work out well....unless the player and agent want more gauranteed....and isn't that always the case?

Good point, but i dont think spending 5 mill a year on a up coming star like Johnson is brutal at all. Hes gonna upgrade what we have theres no doubt about it. The difference between him and Givens is the fact that Givens was old when he came on board, and Givens was the number 3 WR behind Branch and Tony Brown, Johnson was the number 3 behind Larry Fitz and Anquin Boldin. See the difference. Sign Johnson and call it a playoff return with a much better turn out

I'd like to have him, but according to nfl.com, it looks like Buffallo is looking at him and bringing him in for a visit, something we've yet to do. I doubt we'll get him. Mainly because of price.

I wonder when the Titans will break out the piggy bank? Haynesorth?
