Bud Adams has died

The Oilers weren't great, outside of a few years the Titans haven't been great either.

64' - 66' Not quite that bad, but 11-31
70' - 73' 9-45-2 to include 72' n 73', each going 1-13
82'- 86' 16 - 49 including the 1-8 82' season followed by 2-14 83', and 3-13 84'.

Oilers/Titans have had plenty of bad runs. This one, to me, isn't even the worst. I guess we're not that far off from the factory of sadness.

 

Bud gets a bad rap....he should be in the HOF....he and Lamar Hunt kept the fledgling AFL going with their $$$...the league literally wouldn't be the same if it were not for him.

 

So since Bud died, the team is the worst it has been since 83-84....


That's my point.

 

It seems like every decade this franchise needs reset. In 94' they went 2-14 also. I guess sometimes it takes more years than others to get back to competitive.
On the bright side, Following the rebuild of the 70's, back to back AFC championships in 78' & 79'.
By the late 80's the Oilers were regulars in the playoffs until 93'.
The rebuild from 94' got us McNair and George in consecutive years leading to the Super Bowl of 99'.
Hopefully, this rebuild has us back in the postseason a couple times before 20'.

 

I also didn't think Bud had a lot of patience so any time players had a bad season, he was more than willing to move on from them quick, same with coaches.

 

I wish but it feels a lot more like constant basement dwellers to me right now.


I think JRob is over-hyped, but at least it seems like 1 person in this organization actually cares since Bud's passing. It's a start I guess.

 

Bud drafted VY. His last great act to run this franchise in the ground with him.

 

look...no denying VY busted...but are you telling me you watched his senior season, which he should have won the Heisman, that championship game which he single handedly won, and also watched lendale tearing it up for the trojans, and didn't think we had a great draft? Understand what I am saying...on draft day I was convinced we had picked up the best two players 1 and 2. Who knew VY was a fragile as a cracker, unable to comprehend a playbook, and uncoachable....lenwhatle of course ate himself out of the NFL.
