Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon on Bud Adams

On Adams being good to him:

“The biggest thing for me is he gave me my first opportunity to play professional football and lead his franchise. I will always be indebted to him for that. He made me the highest paid player in the league at that particular time… He always took good care of me financially.”

    On Adams wanting to win:

“He was a football guy and wanted to win. He gave us ultimatums one year. He said that “This team was good enough to win a championship, and you need to go out there and win a championship.” It wasn’t an ultimatum that we would all be fired if we didn’t, because there was no way he could do that. But he challenged us and made it clear he wanted us to go out and win it.”

On Adams providing a platform for diversity with African-American quarterback like Moon, Steve McNair and Vince Young:

“He wasn’t doing it because he was trying to make a statement, he was doing it because he felt like those players were the best players at the time and he didn’t care about the color of their skin. We just happened to be African American. He didn’t care if you were black, white, green or red. And that is something I always respected about the man, too.”
