    Nirvana: one album wonder. A few great songs spread amongst their other records (All Apologies, Heart Shaped Box)

    Chili Peppers: great over the course of the ENTIRE career. Countless great records, including their latest.

    No contest here, although Nirvana may be more "important" to music.
