Exactly. Look at how far the Vikings and Eagles went, and compare that to how hard the Packers and Texans fell. Especially with Mariota's injury history, we should be focusing on having one of the best back ups in the NFL.

The Vikings and Eagles have good defenses. The Packers and Texans had really bad defenses. It's tough to find backup QBs who are capable of winning shootouts.

id rather us fill in all the holes before doubling down at any position

fix SS, NB, and LB depth first, then we can worry about the backup QB

That's a stretch, but I agree with your point.

Lets get a vet NOT named Cassel and if people want to keep the OSU theme going.. we draft J.T. Barrett in the 7th round.

Nah you can’t replace him with Bradford because Bradford is a free agent.

Solid backup QB’s are hard to come by. But yeah no arguing Cassel needs to be upgraded.

We would need to trade for Colt McCoy, what would we have to give up?

Think about the Patriot way. They seem to draft a good quarter back every other year in the mid rounds and then sell them to the highest bidder. It worked in one out of 2 trades this year. Worst case scenario is you get a solid back up to groom for the future. I would say it will depend on what is there draft day. A grizzled old veteran will be available if it doesn't work out.

Why in the world would we trade for that noodle arm?
