SUMMARY: Many factors play into the improvement of the Titans defense against the run. The offense's effectiveness in running the ball and controlling the clock has played a big role in the defense's improvement because they stay fresher. Nick Harper and Cortland Finnegan have provided a more physical presence at CB. But the key reason for the positive change has been attitude. "We were embarrassed by the numbers we put up last year," DE Kyle Vanden Bosch said. "We didn't change a lot this year. It's just that everybody looked in the mirror and said, 'Look, we have the ability to be a good defense. There's no reason why we can't be.' Now we have confidence that we can do it."
