I think the Titans are in a weird situation at DE partly because of how well our Lbers pressured the QB last year. If we didn't have the sacks from Brown and Ayers then our sack/pressure numbers would have been pretty poor.

We all know that we need to be stouter against the run as well.

So do we go after a vet DE (Freeney, Abraham, Osi) more known for their rushing skills or do we add a vet who is a swing player more known as a run stopper (Canty)

In the draft their are 4 really explosive guys off the edge...Jones, Mingo, Jordan, and Ansah. Then the best all around DE might be Werner, but is he too much of a Morgan clone.

How do you rectify the DE situation???? and would adding a stud DT in the draft be enough to help the DEs???

I think adding a guy like Canty to help DT and DE spots while adding one of the young speed rushers would be the best bet. But is adding a situational pass rusher with your #10 pick the smartest thing to do?

If a DE is out there in FA that can fit in our scheme and doesn't break the bank, go for it. I have a feeling we'll be solving this in the draft (2nd or 3rd round).

    Here it is in summary:

Gray: "I want these guys to own the defense, to own it! These guys (average) are capable of being great!"

G Williams: "Munch, our DL and Safety postions are filled with scrubs, we need to re-arm!"

We'll be getting another DE, just not sure if during FA. Most likely the draft IMO.

Wimbley and Morgan got a lot of pressure on the QB last year but the problem is we couldn't get a pass rush up the middle and QB's were able to get rid of the ball pretty quickly (some of this goes on the DB's as well). I'm fine with those 2 starting but we do need to bring in another guy to rotate as either a pass rush specialist or to help with the run, hell, one each.

We didn't stink vs the run, we stunk at wrapping up and tackling the ball carrier, bit of a difference there.

We didn't get blown off the ball, in fact, most of the time we ripped through the offensive line only to run right past the QB or RB.

Our DE's simply need a fine tuning, and they'll be better for us.

I'm totally comfortable for Morgan to start at DE, he played great last season. It doesn't show up as much in the sack numbers but he got a heck of a lot of pressures and was very solid against the run. It's Wimbley i'm more worried about, I think we need another DE to rotate with him. Wimbley is capable of being an excellent DE though, we'll see if he can turn it up next season.

Our DL is close to being very good.

We only have 3 players worth anything, usually a good line has 5-6

I'm satisfied with them...our DC, however, is a totally different story...

Close not there yet. Wimbley can rush he sucks vs the run but he was great with pressures and the numbers back that up. Morgan is improving and finally starting finishing at the end of the year and hold his end very well. Martin is a ? but he played well when given his shot I think he takes a step forward and Casey dealt with an elbow injury but was still very effective against the run. I'm glad Marks is gone, give this line a high draft pick and a FA and I think they show up next year especially since Greg Williams is a 1000x better than Gray and Millard gets another year with them.
