I have a class project due Tuesday morning and I need your help.

For the project I have to take Romeo and Juliet and place it in a new time period. The time period could range from 1500 to 1970. I chose 1970 because I figured Romeo and Juliet might want to see Led Zeppelin in the prime of their career.

I have to answer these questions for the time period I chose-
    What were the major events?
    Who were the important persons?
    What were the trends?
What were the high and low points?

So I've been Googlin' and Wikipedian' the crap out of 1970 and I'm coming up with the same results from both places. I'm stuck on a college campus where there is nobody that has experienced 1970 personally.

Please don't be embarresed to hide your age. From what I've read 1970 was a good time. So what's it going to be? Will you guys please help out a youngin' from 1990? It would be appreciated immensely.

...you're only as old as you feel :beerbang:

The Beatles broke up in 1970, which was quite a trauma at the time.

Thanks man. I've already talked about The Beatles in my paper though. I said The Beatles as a group were important because their breakup marked the first major setback in rock history (correct me if I'm wrong) and that to this day they still inspire musicians.

1970? Not much for that one. You should have picked 1969. Maybe R&J could be the center of a gang fight at Woodstock.

It's was about Vietnam, man... Kent State...

If I were to do this, Romeo would be a pro-war kid who is about to be deployed and Juliet a protester from Kent State.

When I was in high school (not that long ago, actually), I was in an advanced English class and all we did for half the year was white, plan and act in a disco version of Romeo and Juliet. One of the families was into rock music and hated disco, and the other was the opposite. That class was probably the easiest and most fun class I ever took.

Maybe you can steal that idea.

Here are a few tidbits, some of these I had to find:

    First Earth day took place
    World Trade Center was completed
    Apollo 13 Distaster
    Charles Manson was convicted
    BAr codes where introduced
Marshall Football team killed in plane crash
    Navy's F-14 Tomcat was tested
Prime time football was started with ABC's Monday Night Football

    Hope these help some
