Were all you guys crazy geography nuts or something? How in the world would you know where most these places are?

Budapest, and places Ive never heard of. Who'd know where finland is. Nobody lives there.

I can't get past level 9. Western Africa throws me as well as the location of specific cities in Russia, China and Brazil.

Europe is pretty easy because most cities are in reasonably close proximity of the major countries.

Gloat - The rest of the world actually teaches their children about the remainder of the world. I've never taken Geography classes.

I agree that Americans seem to be at a disadvantage. I took world geography all through grade school. Do they offer similar as regular curiculum for kids in the US?

I think the fact that Canadian history is a relatively boring affair motivates us canuckleheads look beyond our own borders.

What's the closest you've got to something? Even when I know exactly where a location is, I can't seem to get it dead on. The closest I've been is 45 miles (or is this thing in km's... I can't recall... whatever).

The furthest I've been from something is 18,000 miles or something (guessed south atlantic... but the spot was in the south pacific). At that point the game "told me" I was terrible.

I'd be impressed if anone gets past level 10. That is seriously hard.

45 miles is about as close as I've gotten too. I don't think I've been quite 18,000 miles yet, but I did guess a place was in East Asia and it was actually West Africa.

We have geography but not every year. In grade school (k-3) you don't touch any, but then 4th grade you begin learning mostly about our own country. Then in 6th - 9th you go to world geography.
But yeah. We're pretty much taught that places outside our borders aren't real countries. We know where vacation spots are though.
We actually are probably more informed about the countries and their happenings, but pinpointing them on a map we'll struggle with because I was never taught locations.

I know 95% of the geography of Latin America and Africa, so that helped. The rest was just common sense until some were just too far off.
