The A's were about on base percentage. That was their biggest judgement in evaluating talent

And to think I've seen people say that wish Jimmy Haslam would buy the Titans.

    SMH.

I will happily admit that analytics are useless if you don't know how to use them properly, but all the analytics bashing in this thread is a bit much.

The Seahawks are one of the NFL's most analytics-inclined teams (if you want to do some reading, search for how the Seahawks use the SPARQ score in their draft prep) and it has allowed them to build what might be the NFL's deepest roster.

Year after year, the Seahawks find gems late in the draft - and do it largely because of their expertise using analytics to evaluate prospects.

The Titans would be well-served to learn something from the Seahawks.

Analytics are too new to work in football. By nature nfl coaches play the percentages history has taught them to play by.

That is an extremely narrow definition of "analytics."

The reality is that analytics is an incredibly broad field that encompasses way, way more than play-calling.

Like I was saying before, read up about SPARQ scores. That's analytics and it has nothing to do with going for it on 4th down. It's a measure of a player's athleticism that's a far better predictor of success in the NFL than 40 times or bench press reps.

Anyone trying to lump all of this stuff into one bucket probably doesn't really understand what he's talking about.

All NFL players had to wear those RFID chips this year. Its how we know how fast MM8 was running on that 87 yard TD

That is analytics and that has to be valuable.

Every NFL team knows every players football speed and when the players slacked off, took bad angels ect..

to ignore this information is silly
