Really demonstrates that the major 2nd half adjustment was moving the corners in closer to the LOS and sending more pressure on third down. The other bonus was the tackling improved

Scheme wise, that has to be the adjustment Vrabel and Bowen make. Bring the corners in a little bit closer on third down so that the QB can't just git rid of it in 2 seconds to a receiver who can easily get YAC for a first down due to the secondary being so far off.

To me the dbs are instructed wrong. Never press and don't play close enough to players in zone. I get you may have 2 players encroach in your area but if you've got 1 and no one coming stay close to the guy.

in a nut shell we have Simmons playing at an elite level and everyone else is barely average. LBs, Ss and whoever plays opposite Butler have not played well so far. Pass rush isn't getting enough pressure. We aren't holding the edge very well against the run. We literally look like a team that went all out on offense and ignored the defense for the most part (elite QB, RB and Brown is basically elite at WR).

Now with that said it also means we have probably seen the worst. Losing Pees might have jostled things more than we expected, Adoree needs to get out there and basically everyone else needs to start playing at a level they are capable of playing at. It is basically the same personnel that played well in the playoffs when Adoree was healthy. Thus I expect to see improvement and guys like Byard stepping up their game. Just a little bit improvement across the board and play calling can make a difference and we have seen how valuable Adoree is.

Oh, Next Gens stats had Big Ben's throws coming out just above 2 seconds. Very difficult for any team to get pressure and sacks when the ball is coming out that fast.

Agreed. I loved the Coombs hire when it first happened, and was real bummed when he left. Massive blow, as was losing Pees. Not bringing in a proper DC was an awful decision. Really hurting out season.

The defense not only bad but also can’t catch a break. When we have great coverage the wideouts make incredible catches, sure sacks are now great escapes by qbs. Has to be frustrating beyond belief

What's also worth noting is that its just not the lack of expected production from the big names - Landry, Beasley, Clowney etc. Other rotational players have done nothing either.

When was the last time DQ Jones, Crawford, Robertson, Isaiah Mack did something of note. Those guys were adding a bit last season.

I write this having not checked snap counts.

FWIW Vrabel denied ANY halftime adjustments vs stoolers... claims team just played better - LOL.... right
