Agent for Turner: No trade likely

    By JIM WYATT
    Staff Writer

The agent for Chargers running back Michael Turner said he isn't sure his client is going to be traded.

Agent Bus Cook said he's waiting to hear back from the Titans and Chargers, who have been in trade discussions since Turner visited Tennessee a few weeks ago. He also visited the Bills.

"As of right now, it looks like Michael is going to be in San Diego,'' Cook said. "Things could change, and it could happen on draft day, too.''

The Chargers put a first- and third-round draft pick compensation on Turner, a restricted free agent. But instead of giving up that much, the Titans are interested in making a trade, which would require reaching a contract agreement with Cook, and the Titans and Chargers agreeing on compensation....more

Sounds more like maneuvering to pressure the Titans into giving up more.

These articles usually come up about two days before the trade...

Turner's agent really doesn't care what the trade compensation is, only that Turner's contract is a good one. If anything the agent would want SD to let him go cheap just so Turner could get a new contract and not have to play for the paltry 2.35 mil he will get.

As for the trade both sides are going to play hardball right up to the draft. If the guy SD wants is sitting there at #19 we could see them make a deal fairly quickly and the Titans know that. Also, if say Anderson or a guy the Titans really like is at #19 the whole thing could be called off by the Titans. Right now there are two many unknowns for either side to pull the trigger.

WHAT?! Are you kidding me?! The Titans would give anything to upgrade the roster! This can't be true.

its obvious Michael Turner isnt going to stay in San Diego, i expect a draft day trade to go down, im pretty sure that will be it..

With the 19th pick of the 2007 NFL Draft, the San Diego Chargers select Robert Meachum, WR, Tennessee

    :wink2:
