wow, surprised to see DDL with the lead here
most talented match up of the whole thing
love both, but again, de niro has the most insane filmography ever regardless of the crap he does now
Yeah, I think there might be some recency bias at play here. De Niro's been coasting for years. But at his age, and with his body of work, I have no problem with that. De Niro in his prime was every bit as good as DDL. And he has the much more extensive, and interesting imo, filmography.
De Niro for me, and it's not even particularly close.
DDL loses points for how little he does.
De Niro is a vet and technically great, It's just hard for me to give the nod to an actor that stays in his comfort zone rather than one that takes on characters and transforms. De Niro bores me and I don't think he's ever going to take on a role that changes that... and he at some point in his career should push for a challenge. I haven't seen it.
What exactly do you mean? Are you talking about his gangster roles?
DDL drinks every other actor's milkshake.
i dont see how jake lamotta and travis bickle are comfort zone roles
Just his generic tough-guy thing.
Rarely is he someone other than Robert De Niro.
also, even in the gangster movies he was rarely the "tough guy"
he got walked all over in casino, and wasn't nearly the tough guy pesci was in goodfellas
